In “Tropic Island Hum,” the expansion plans of the evil Gretsch force Wirral the squirrel to leave his devastated woodland home. With help from Froggo the frog and Ratsy the streetwise rodent in a hot air balloon, Wirral embarks on quest to find the fabled tropical island of Animalia, where all the animals are said to live in freedom without fear. Bison is the chief of that island, and Wirral’s new love crush there is Wilhamina the plucky red squirrel.
The 3 refugees get cleaned up and that night, they perform the theme song to the island. Bison sings the first part of the song. A parrot gets banged on the bass drum and is dizzy. Later, an alligator sings. Right after that, Wirral blushes at his new love crush Wilhelmina. Then a bad thing appears, and the mask-animals run wild…
“Tuesday” is an imagination-stirring animation based on the book by David Wiesner that tells the bewitching tale of how frogs floating on lily pads take a twilight flight into a small town somewhere in America. the frogs fly at twilight every Tuesday night, but one night, they go inside a small house, where one frog sneezes because of dust. Then after the morning appears of dawn, they go back to the water.
In “Rupert & the Frog Song,” Rupert Bear decides to head off for a walk on the hills. With his Mother’s blessing he sets off for a jolly trip, encountering his friends Edward Elephant and Bill Badger along the way, who are too busy to join him. As Rupert reaches a hill he props himself up against the trunk of an oak tree and enjoys the glory of the countryside. Suddenly he finds himself enveloped by a rainbow cloud of butterflies previously masquerading as leaves on the oak tree, and all of them swarm away from the leafless tree towards a rocky outcrop; Rupert cannot resist following them. As he leaves, a large white barn owl and two black cats decide to follow him.
Upon the rocks, Rupert finds a large number of multicolored frogs. He walks into a cave behind a waterfall and sees three signs: “Frogs only beyond this point”, “Everything except frogs must be kept on a lead”, and “Guard frogs operating”. He sneaks into the palace, trying to avoid getting caught by the frog guards. There, he witnesses the Frog Song, an event that occurs only once in a few hundred years in which various frogs of all shapes and sizes come together and sing “We All Stand Together”. Around the end, the frog King and Queen rise out of the water before the crowd to finish off the song. After a thunderous applause from the frogs, the owl, who had followed Rupert to find out where the frogs were hiding, launches itself for an attack on the royals, but Rupert manages to warn the frogs in time and they all quickly retreat, leaving the owl and the cats empty-handed and the palace completely empty. After hearing his mother call him, Rupert excitedly rushes home to tell his family about what he saw.
・ Paul McCartney (voice) – Rupert, Bill, Boy Frog
・ June Whitfield (voice) – Rupert’s Mother
・ Windsor Davies (voice) – Rupert’s Father, Edward, Father Frog“Rupert And The Frog Song” was directed by Geoff Dunbar, who has also directed the new “Tropic Island Hum” and “Tuesday”. Geoff Dunbar and Paul McCartney have achieved a successful animation partnership since they began working together in the early Eighties. Besides the BAFTA for ‘Rupert’, they won another BAFTA in 1992 for an animated film on the work of French artist Honore Daumier and were nominated for a third two years ago for “Tuesday”.
“While the world knows Paul as a creative, musical genius, he is also a master of animation and I’m thrilled to be working with him again,” said Weinstein. »In keeping with the great Disney tradition, these three titles are breathtaking and will be a real treat for families to watch together.”
“I’ve loved animation since I was a little kid and I’m proud that Harvey and Miramax are handling the release of these three little gems,” said McCartney… “The ideas that turned me on as a kid are the same ones that fascinate me today. I don’t know that we ever outgrow our passion for adventure, humor or romance. There’s a childlike quality to the art of animation, and, married with a bit of music, it seemed the perfect way to bring these magical stories to life. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed making them.”
