Art is the process of transferring something in the mind’s eye into that of an audience. Art’s fundamental nature is a form of communication between sentient beings, a shared procedure of conception into perception, whereas whether it be a painting, sculpture, novel, or performance, until it has an audience it isn’t art. Here’s the quandary in that, more so for performance art, can the artist be their own audience? Intrapersonal communication is a communicator’s internal use of language or thought. It can be useful to envision intrapersonal communication occurring in the mind of the individual in a model which contains a sender, receiver, and feedback loop. Intrapersonal communication is the relationship you have within yourself, it’s like an inner monologue. Not to be confused with interpersonal communications, your relationship with others and your ability to communicate with them. Furthermore, the quality of the communication isn’t a factor in qualifying a work as art, bad art is still art. If you choose to pay good money for bad art, you’re most certainly free to make that bad choice. Consequently, the Art Market has evolved with mutations under the influence of profiteering. It’s supply and demand has been perverted by investment racketeers. Art does not have to have a grandiose and complex theme; it may simply convey a basic mood, such as happy. Contrarily, it may have a clever theme equivocally designed not to be interpreted exactly the same way by any two individuals, a creative affect in theory, giving each individual viewer a unique experience. Since no two human snowflakes will ever respond exactly the same way to any stimulus, no matter how simple it may be, this is essentially true for any work of art to some degree. Therefore, photography, children’s scribbles, and even crafts are Art, if they express plus convey a message which evokes a response; the art of communication. @ 2021 Mark Alan
